Frances Lavonne Evers
Frances L. Evers, 82, of Simpsonville, widow of Robert ‘Bob’ S. Evers, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 while surrounded by her family.
Born March 2, 1934, in Galesburg, Iowa, she was a daughter of the late John Zegers and the late Cora Molenaar Zegers.
Mrs. Evers is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline Van Wyk and her husband, Dennis, of Lexington; her son, Jonathan N. Evers and his wife, Tamara, of Simpsonville; six grandchildren, Brandon (Jessica) Van Wyk, Amanda Van Wyk, Joshua Van Wyk, Rachel E. (Darrell) Owens, Michaela Evers, and Austin Evers; two great-grandchildren, Kaylynn Van Wyk and Sterling Van Wyk; brothers, Wayne (Illeen) Zegers and Darrell (Linda) Zegers; a sister-in-law, Mert (Marvin) Tysseling; and a brother-in-law, Clyde Evers.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one infant granddaughter.
Mrs. Evers accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She graduated from Sully High School and soon after married Bob Evers. She began her career as an office manager at Iowa State University. While her dream had been to become an attorney the closest she could come was to be an office manager in a law office for over twenty-five years. She loved her job and thanked God for the many people she came to know and love through her work.
Music was extremely important to her. She began piano lessons at age 5 and continued off and on thru the years, until her last lesson in organ and piano at Central College. She felt blessed to be part of one of the worship teams at her church. Her favorite hymn was “Blessed Assurance.”
She loved to cook and entertain. She looked for reasons to cook. While her kitchen might have at times been messy, there were most always cookies in the jar.
Most of her life was lived in Pella, Iowa. After Bob’s death in 2004 she moved to South Carolina to be near her children. She enjoyed playing Bridge and that love for Bridge gave her an opportunity to make many new friends in South Carolina.
At the time of her death she was a devout member of First Baptist Church Simpsonville, SC and was blessed by her weekly Bible study with Bible Study Fellowship.
A “Celebration of Life” hymn sing service will be held at First Baptist Church Simpsonville on Sunday evening, September 25, 2016 at 6:00 PM. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
